New Moon Emoji
🌑
What does the New Moon emoji mean?
1
The Moon appears completely dark — this marks the first of its eight phases.
2
The new moon shows the entire lunar disk shrouded in darkness. It is unlit and usually depicted in a deep gray. In real life we don’t actually see the Moon like this—the eye can’t capture that moment—unlike the waxing crescent moon.
It’s associated with the night sky, stars, and darkness, and is often linked to negative feelings: bad mood, sadness, and depression.
