Huawei

Chinese tech giant Huawei, one of the leading manufacturers of mobile devices, unveiled its own unique emoji design in August 2023, simultaneously with the release of the HarmonyOS 4.0 update. This move marked a significant step in enhancing their proprietary user interface and helped Huawei stand out from the competition by offering users a more personalized and recognizable visual style.

As a result, Huawei devices, even when running on the Android platform, now feature an exclusive set of emojis that distinguish them from rivals. Similar approaches have been adopted by other major manufacturers like Samsung, highlighting a trend towards creating branded visual elements to boost brand recognition and improve user interaction. On the whole, launching a proprietary emoji set has been a crucial step in the evolution of HarmonyOS and in strengthening Huawei's position in the global mobile technology market.

Huawei emoji: what to know

My phone shows a different picture than this page
The set here comes from the newest Huawei build we have on file. Older phones keep the drawings they shipped with, so open the matching version from the list below.

When do new emoji reach my device?
They travel with the system update, not with the app you type in. A character approved by Unicode this year usually lands on phones over the following one or two releases.

Can I take these pictures to another device?
Copy the emoji and it travels fine — the drawing does not. Paste it anywhere outside Huawei and the local font redraws it.

Emojis from Huawei HarmonyOS 5.0 are displayed below.
